Mathoura Fishing Classic
The annual Mathoura Fishing Classic is held at Tarragon Lodge, (Picnic Point) on  one of the best stretches of the Murray River. The competition is usually held the  first weekend in March and always has fantastic prizes up for grabs.  The superb location of this event allows all entrants to camp in close proximity to  the main area, providing easy access for meals, fishing results and entertainment.  The purpose of the Mathoura Fishing Classic is to raise funds to re-stock the  rivers with native fish, while also providing entrants with the opportunity to  experience a great family event in a fantastic location. In excess of 100,000  fish have already been released as a result of the Mathoura Fishing Classics. Read about the most recent competition

Easter Fair
The annual Mathoura Easter Fair is held in the Soldiers War Memorial Gardens on the morning of Easter Saturday. The event includes poetry or art competitions and decorated esky, bike, and hat competitions. The highlight of the Fair is always the Tiny Tott Competition, Miss and Master Junior Easter Fair and a Miss Easter Fair Competition. Stalls typically include fresh produce, pickles and jams, cook books, scones & jam, cakes, face painting, cold drinks, crafts and more. There are always the ever popular raffles, barbecue and a special appearance by the Easter Bunny!

Cadell Fair
The Mathoura Cadell Country Fair is an annual event held the Saturday before Melbourne Cup Day on the picturesque Visitor Centre lawns. The Fair has a wide variety of market stalls and activities, which generally include sheep dog trials, live music, vintage car display, wine tasting, tarot card readings and alpaca display. In the past, there has been wood chopping and chainsaw sculpture demonstrations and performing ducks. The Fair always places great emphasis on kids activities, with a dedicated kid’s corner including plenty of competitions, games, dancing and giveaways. The Fair also incorporates the Mathoura Pioneer Cemetery Tour, the popular Garden Tour, Forest Tours and dinner and entertainment at the Bowling Club on the Saturday night. Regional Events
There are many other events held in the surrounding area, all of which are less than 30 minutes drive away. Some of these events included the Southern 80 Ski Race, the Jazz Food & Wine Festival and the Deniliquin Ute Muster.
